John and Max are following up their chat with Charlie Nash on female directors with reviews of four new releases, all of which were headed up by women.
The films are Ava DuVernay's 13th, Andrea Arnold's American Honey, Mira Nair's Queen of Katwe, and Maren Ade's Toni Erdmann. Max saw the last film at the New York Film Festival, and he shares a few quick thoughts on his experiences there.
